After a somewhat interesting day of service culminating in two lineside fires, we have decided to curtail steam operation for the foreseeable future from the Great Central Railway, Nottingham.
Tomorrows planned journeys will therefore be diesel hauled. These will be running to the publicised return timetables between Ruddington, Rushcliffe Halt and Loughborough North (Brush).
The DMU will once again be in service from Rushcliffe Halt to Loughborough North (Brush) however, the first planned passenger run from Ruddington has now been cancelled.
The bus services remain as timetabled and will operate between Ruddington, Rushcliffe Halt and Quorn & Woodhouse.
We would like to express gratitude to all our visitors today with a special thanks for the understanding shown by all those whose journey was cut short by the fires.
Our staff worked extremely well in averting what could have spread into a more serious fire not only for ourselves but our neighbouring farmers too. Their action was also commended by the attending fire service teams.
