We operate on selected days throughout the year — including weekends, bank holidays and school half terms. Always check the events page for your chosen date before travelling.
Our regular operating days are Wednesday and Sunday throughout the running season, with the site open from 10am to 4pm. On these days you can explore the full 25-acre site at Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, visit the Heritage Café, browse the gift shop and enjoy the exhibits.
Heritage railway trains run on selected dates only — not every open day includes train rides. Please check the individual event listing before you visit to confirm train availability and departure times.
We typically open on UK bank holidays, including Easter (Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday & Easter Monday), the early May bank holiday, Spring bank holiday and the Summer bank holiday.
Hours on bank holidays are usually 10am – 4pm. Train rides are often available — check the individual event listing to confirm.
Check Bank Holiday EventsWe run additional open days during Nottinghamshire school half-term weeks, making it the perfect family day out during holidays. This typically includes the February, May and October half-term periods.
Half-term events may include special activities. Always check the Events page for confirmed dates and activities.
Check Half-Term EventsThroughout the year we host themed special events — from Steam Galas and classic vehicle rallies to the Flying Scotsman and Santa Specials — which often bring extended hours and unique train services.
Special event days may have different opening hours, train timetables and ticket prices. Details are always listed on each individual event page.
