School Holiday Family Fun Awaits
Make the most of the summer holidays with a memorable family day out at Great Central Railway Nottingham.
On selected Wednesdays throughout the school holidays—29 July, 5 August, 12 August, 19 August and 26 August 2026—you can enjoy a nostalgic journey aboard one of our preserved Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).
Departing from Ruddington Fields Station, the train travels through the beautiful South Nottinghamshire countryside to Rushcliffe Halt before returning, offering a fantastic heritage railway experience for all ages.
With tickets from just £15 and our popular Kids for a Quid offer, it's an affordable way to keep the children entertained during the summer break.
A Full Day of Family Fun
Your adventure doesn't end when the train returns. Right next door, Rushcliffe Country Park offers one of Nottinghamshire's best family days out, making it the perfect companion to your railway visit.
Children can enjoy the adventure playground, skatepark, 4X cycle track, sensory trail, woodland walks, lake, and plenty of open green spaces to explore. There are also picnic areas, wildlife to discover, and the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, where you can see an impressive collection of preserved road vehicles and heritage exhibits.
Whether you're spending a couple of hours with us or making a full day of it, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
