There’s a big hole in the ground appearing outside of our running shed. In the next couple of weeks it will be filled with a brand new locomotive servicing pit - long enough for the largest locomotives.
It will allow us to better prepare and clean locomotives at the start and end of each operating day. We can also offer proper stabling and servicing facilities to passing steam and diesel locomotives running on the national network who need an overnight place to stay.
Your kind donations have helped us fund the pit but we could do with some final contributions for concrete. With the hole dug and the pit being manufactured off site it won’t be long now - but every pound will help us get the job finished.
