Out on the main line contractors are now beginning work on Bridge 302A. It's a relatively small crossing of a brook between the junction at 50 steps bridge and Rushcliffe Halt.
It's unfortunately not fit for trains at the moment, so to get passenger services running from the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre back to Rushcliffe Halt further down the line, it needs to be repaired.
In the middle of July 2024 contractors lifted the track, so work can begin. To keep things affordable and achievable we're only going to restore a single deck at the moment (the other deck has been used to provide access for maintenance vehicles alongside the track).
The work is going to cost approximately £30,000 but the reward is unlocking the train service back along the Great Central Main Line towards the unique Rushcliffe Halt station. Generous supporters have already helped us raise £2000 for the work, so there is £28,000 to go. If you'd like to see trains running again, please consider a donation to the main line fund being run by LNER(GC) Heritage Trust.
Thank you as always for your support and as repairs progress we'll keep you up to date.
