Welcome to the GCRN
Formerly known as Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, The Great Central Railway - Nottingham now offers almost 10 miles of heritage railway running through the beautiful scenery of South Nottinghamshire and North-West Leicestershire.
Heritage Steam & Diesel services re-create the experience of train travel from when it was more than just a way to travel from one place to another.
Entirely staffed by volunteers, all income is used to preserve railway & transport heritage for future generations. The GCRN is a great experience for all the family. Come and enjoy a day with us!
From April 12th 2021 (days and hours to follow) we are reopening as many external areas to the public as the guidelines allow. This will include The Ruddington Model Railway Club outdoor layout & The Nottingham Area Bus Society (entry to the garages will not be permitted) along with The Heritage Cafe returning to offering sit down meals using our outdoor seated areas for dining and our Childrens Play Area (Sanitary Precautions must be used).
It is also our intention to reopen other aspects of the site as guidelines allow over the coming months and to restart our Heritage Rail services in time for Summer but, please remember that all dates are currently fluid and based on the guidelines issued by the Government so may be subject to change. Also, at this time, the open areas DO NOT include the miniature Railway.
Till the 12th of April, The Heritage Cafe (only) remains open for Takeaways on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am till 4pm and the work continues behind the scenes but we look forward to welcoming you back here at Ruddington over the coming weeks.
